Boarding
Hato Petera College offers full time boarding and weekday boarding to male and female students enrolled at the school.
Our Noho Kainga are independent homes that create a warm, hospitable environment and accommodate the needs of up to 12 students who live as a whanau with all facilities like meals, cleaning and laundry being provided within the Noho Whanau.
All Noho Kainga actively support the school’s Catholic and Maori Special Character of the College.
Their major role is to:- support students in their academic and educational aspirations
- provide a whanau type living environment
- give priority to homework and study
- provide extra opportunities for students to develop socially, spiritually and personally
- provide parents with the opportunity to have direct telephone communication with their child and his/her boarding parents
- give students the opportunity to live together as a whanau, sharing the chores and gaining life skills
“Living in noho whanau is excellent! All the boarders are like a family and our whanau parents do things for us to make our stay as much like home as possible.”
Ana, (Year 13 boarding student)
